Deepening the Engagement and Influence of our Homeless Constituents Within/Across the Coalition
QUESTIONS TO ANSWER:
When we talk about our homeless constituents, whom do we mean?
What would we gain by more influential and active constituents?
What is our ultimate vision of engagement?
What barriers exist to this engagement? How can we remove those barriers?
What models are working in other communities?
What new structures/processes might we consider that would achieve our objectives? What will it take to create them?
WORKPLAN:
Convening
Meet as a multi-stakeholder learning group that will meet to explore these questions
Develop a more detailed workplan, ground rules, deadlines and budget for your process (around $5,000, includes facilitator)
Meet with the prospective facilitator to ensure a good fit and agreement on scope of work
Fact Finding
Compile relevant data on your questions
Prepare an oral and written interim report to share with the Coalition
Options and Recommendations
Explore other models and options
Develop an analysis of all options that will reach the goal
Accompany the analysis of the options with your recommendations
Present your recommendations to the Coalition
DELIVERABLES/SCHEDULE:
By September 2010: Produce an interim written and oral on your discussions
By January 2011: Produce a final written and oral report with your analysis, options and recommendations for action
NORMS FOR THIS WORK:
All recommendations need to move us closer to our ultimate goal of ending homelessness
Engage a diverse team of stakeholders in your learning group, including constituents
Reach out to other stakeholders beyond your group
Use data and evidence to support your analysis and recommendations
Increase the knowledge of all members of the Coalition
Build consensus and strengthen the capacity of the Coalition and its members to achieve the agreed upon vision
