RI's 38 in 100
Family Housing Challenge
On any given night in Rhode Island, 325 persons in families will experience homelessness; 197 children will experience homelessness. These families do not have a safe place to call home. We want to change that. Are you a landlord in RI with available units? We want to pay your rent, but we need your help. Enter the #38in100 Family Housing Challenge!
Thirty-eight (38) families recently received a rental assistance voucher to help them find permanent, stable housing but with the shortage of rental units on the market, they may lose their voucher if we cannot identify 38 units in the next 100 days. Landlords: this is an opportunity to put a roof over the heads of 38 families and fill a vacant unit with a tenant.
The Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless and our partners, including Crossroads Rhode Island, the Providence Housing Authority, and the Rhode Island Continuum of Care, are trying to identify landlords across the state who may have a vacant or soon-to-be vacant unit to offer one of the 38 families awarded assistance. Landlords receive rental payments directly from Providence Housing for some or all of the rent depending on the family’s situation and do not have to be in Providence to assist. It’s simple economics: help us now and get paid to fill your unit!
