Each year, Rhode Island conducts a count of sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness during the last 10 days of January. In 2019, we counted 1,055 Rhode Islanders experiencing homelessness, 71 of whom were unsheltered, with no place to go at night during the coldest time of the year. See our previous Point in Time count data here!

Point-In-Time Counts establish the severity of the homelessness crisis in our community, allowing policy makers and program administrators to create resources to help end the problem and increase public awareness.

For information about getting involved in the 2020 Point-in-Time count please click the link below to volunteer -  For more information, please contact Lindsay Cutler at (401) 721-5685 ext. 27 or lindsay@rihomeless.org.

In an unsheltered counting efforts, outreach workers and volunteers are organized to canvas Rhode Island to enumerate the people who appear to be living in places not meant for human habitation. The 2020 PIT Count will be held on the night of Wednesday, January 22, 2020 and at select times and locations between Thursday, January 23 through Saturday the 25th.

The Rhode Island Coalition to End Homelessness is seeking VOLUNTEERS to participate in the annual Point In Time count of people living on the streets, and in places that are not safe or meant for human habitation.  To VOLUNTEER, follow the link below to choose the geographic area and dates you would like to serve.
