VI-SPDAT v.2 (Individuals)

To be administered to any adult (18+) if diversion from homelessness is unsuccessful.

F-VI-SPDAT v.2 (Family)

To be administered to any adult (18+) members of a household with children in their physical custody if diversion from homelessness is unsuccessful.

TAY-VI-SPDAT
(Transitional Age Youth)

To be administered to any individual youth (18-24) that are not a part of a couple or family if diversion from homelessness is unsuccessful.

SPDAT v. 4 (Individuals)

To be used for individual adults (18+) not in families. To use the SPDAT, training by OrgCode or an OrgCode certified trainer is required. A Full SPDAT should be completed with the client after an individual has experienced 14-days or more of homelessness. A second SPDAT should be completed once the client is housed, then periodically after the client is housed.

Y-SPDAT v.1 (Youth)

To be used for youth (18-24) that are not a part of a couple or family. To use the SPDAT, training by OrgCode or an OrgCode certified trainer is required. A Full SPDAT should be completed with the client after an individual has experienced 14-days or more of homelessness. A second SPDAT should be completed once the client is housed, then periodically after the client is housed.

VI & SPDAT Tools

Below are the assessment tools used to both triage and assess persons experiencing homelessness based on their vulnerability and highest needs. 

Prior to administering a VI-SPDAT, this video (here) should be watched and this script (here) should be followed. As of April 2018, the RICoC Board approved this process. Be sure each staff that conducts a VI-SPDAT within your agency is properly trained.
